Work Samples for Hunter College

I am an artist, researcher, and creative technologist working at the intersection of interactive media, participatory storytelling, and historical narratives. My practice and interest is dedicated to uncovering ignored stories, generational trauma, and overlooked histories, using emerging technology to create immersive and engaging experiences.

My work spans a range of media, from augmented reality, projection mapping, and data visualization to UX research, interactive installations, and filmmaking. Some projects reframe historical events and conflicts, such as visualizing partition and border tensions through digital storytelling. Others explore how we engage with social issues through interactive experiences, such as designing data-driven interfaces, speculative futures, and game-based storytelling. I also work with material culture and endangered crafts, finding ways to merge traditional art forms with contemporary digital techniques. Across all my projects, I aim to create spaces for reflection, dialogue, and engagement, often involving community-driven and participatory approaches.

The selected works below represent my interdisciplinary practice, aligning with Hunter College’s emphasis on co-creation, artistic experimentation, and socially engaged art.

Project 1: Radcliffe’s Border

Description: An interactive textile-based installation that examines the long-term effects of colonial partition. It uses projection mapping to depict the story and interactive data visualization that allows viewers to create evolving maps based on language, food, and dance, reshaping narratives of migration and displacement.
Role: Concept Development, Interactive Design, Projection Mapping
Tools Used: Processing, MAX/MSP, Phulkari Fabric, Adobe Suite

(Interactive Installation, Projection Mapping, Data Visualization)

Project 2: Line of Loss

(Data Visualization, Interactive Storytelling, AR Experience)

Description: Line of Loss explores the intertwined history of India and Pakistan through the lens of cricket rivalry, conflicts, and wars. This project analyzes historical data to highlight the human cost of ongoing conflicts and the impact on sports and national identity. It integrates data visualization, interactive storytelling, and AR experiences to provide users with a deeper understanding of these geopolitical tensions.
Role: Data Research, Visual Design, Interactive Development
Tools Used: Flourish, p5.js, Swift, Adobe Illustrator, Figma, Mapbox Studio, Unity (AR)

Project 3: Interactive Sandbox

(Sensor-Based Interactive Media, Multisensory Experience)

Description: Interactive Sandbox is a multisensory installation designed to engage users through tactile, auditory, and visual interactions. Using kinetic sand as a stress-relief medium, participants can shape and manipulate their environment while their movements are tracked by a Kinect depth sensor. The system translates these actions into dynamic visuals and soundscapes, creating an interactive play space where users generate real-time artistic compositions. Projection mapping overlays evolving visual patterns on the sand, inspired by particle effects and Perlin noise, reinforcing the connection between physical interaction and digital response.
Role: Interaction Design, Sensor-Based Art, Multisensory Experience
Tools Used: OpenFrameworks, Kinect, Projection Mapping

Project 4: 100 Days of Journalism

(Multimedia Storytelling, Community-Building Journalism)

Description: 100 Days of Journalism was created during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic (February–May 2021) as a way to strengthen the ITP community at NYU, which was largely remote at the time. This project explored different journalistic storytelling formats and practices, aiming to foster a sense of connection among students and faculty. Over the course of this project, I conducted 70+ interviews with members of the ITP community and presented stories in multiple formats, including video, audio podcasts, infographics, written articles, and data visualizations. The project became a platform to document individual experiences while creating a collective archive of that moment in time. This project highlights the role of journalism in shaping public discourse and storytelling, experimenting with diverse media to capture different aspects of contemporary narratives.
Role: Interaction Design, Sensor-Based Art, Multisensory Experience
Tools Used: Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, Zencastr, StreamYard, Instagram

Project 5: Day2Day (Microsoft Design Expo)

(UX Research, Interaction Design, Ideation for Social Impact)

Description: A UX-driven research and design project developed for the Microsoft Design Expo, aimed at addressing stress and daily challenges through a structured framework for mental well-being. This project explores how interaction design and user research can foster meaningful social impact.
Role: UX Researcher, Interaction Designer, Information Architect
Tools Used: Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, User Research, Concept Development

Project 6: Film Projects

(Narrative & Experimental Filmmaking, Visual Storytelling)

Description: A collection of short films exploring social narratives, identity, and visual storytelling. These works experiment with cinematography, editing, and narrative structures, engaging audiences through compelling audiovisual storytelling. This selection includes five films created during my time at NYFA as well as 2 Shots 2 Late, a production that received national and international acclaim.

Role: Director, Writer, Editor, Production Assistant (2 Shots 2 Late)
Tools Used: Adobe Premiere Pro, Avid, Final Cut Pro, Cinematography Techniques
